Pecan Grove operates 84 apartments, 2 community centers and 4 laundry rooms for families and individuals who earn 80% or less of the median income for Jasper County, Texas.

The mission of Pecan Grove is to provide safe, affordable, decent and sanitary housing and to promote self-sufficiency and economic opportunity for low income families and individuals.

74 apartments are located along the north and south sides of West Levert Street, and another 10 apartments are located a little further to the west on West Martin Luther King Blvd. There are 54 apartments designated for the elderly and / or disabled, while the other 30 apartments are designated as regular family units.

Of the 84 units, there are 4 efficiency apartments, 52 one-bedroom, 24 two-bedroom (4 of which are handicap accessible), and 4 three-bedroom apartments.

Recently, over $1.6 million in grants have been procured to renovate most of the units, build a Resident Center at our MLK site, the beautiful new Pecan Grove Community Center (and offices) on S. Vallie Street, four new laundry rooms throughout the development, a Computer Resource Center (in partnership with Kirbyville Online, that is free to residents and the general public), two new playgrounds and a large game/practice field for sports and recreation.

All apartments have new appliances, new high-efficiency central air and heat, new privacy fencing and new roofs.

Our Pecan Grove Community Center is available for non-profit group meetings as well as private rentals for weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, parties, dances, reunions and most other affairs from casual to formal. Please call our office @ (409) 423-4751 for details.

Efforts are underway by our staff and Board of Commissioners to research and procure additional grants for a multitude of other badly needed programs and services for our area. These additional housing stock, adult literacy programs, child daycare, adult daycare, transportation services, sports and recreation programs and job training and placement.
